It’s that time of year:
Halfcut Bar, run by Andrew Gomez, will open in February or March in the former Lucy Blues Window location on 12th and Walnut, near Below Zero. Gomez runs Gomez Salsas, a catering business that specializes in build-your-own taco bars. Halfcut will include craft beer, and a menu that you fill out yourself to indicate how you want your taco, turtle shells (“it’s my take on the Taco Bell crunchwrap supreme,” he says) and taco salads. You can follow them here.
CUMIN is now Ash American Fare, still run by Alex Mchaiki. Ash will focus on creative, American-style food like gourmet burgers, chicken and fish and opens this week, January 13. M remains open.
eat well cafe + takeaway in O’Bryonville is closing on Friday, January 17, due to a large increase in business for owner Renee Schuler’s primary business, Eat Well Celebrations and Feasts. She doesn’t want to split her time anymore, and instead wants to focus on her first love, catering events. Great for Schuler, but I’ll miss her “east” salad. Eat Well Celebrations and Feasts, is entering its ninth year in business and had its most successful year in 2013.
Barrio Tequileria is closed “until further notice”, making the Northside Tacosphere slightly less taco-y.
Chez Nora has closed. Please, someone snatch up that place and make it fabulous.
