Grammer’s Reopening

Grammer’s, the OTR mainstay that was victim of a robbery in early August, is now reopening (in fact, if you’re looking for a job, they’re hiring servers, bartenders and a general manager). No word currently on exactly when they’re reopening, but I’ll update once I get more information. Dan Wade, CEO of the Relish Group, states: “We will reopen when we get updated security.”

  • I love the job promo in there! Unfortunately, the level of that robbery is going to keep a lot of people away. I know we’ll be staying far away with the exception of MPMF because of it…

  • Good for them.  Why not install security cameras and higher someone to check IDs at the door.  They can keep an eye on what sort of clientel is coming and going.  Usually a bouncer at the door checking IDs is enough to deter would be criminals from just waltzing in.  Its not that hard to do.

  • Just stop wasting my hard earned tax dollars inside city limits.  Stop subsidizing restaurants, bars, and ESPECIALLY a trolly folly.  Its a cesspool and we need more police.  Until people aren’t murdered and raped daily inside city limits, we should never set foot there

The Marxist boondoggle Trolly Folly crime train choo choo is sucking up our hard earned money that would go directly to Cops and firefighters. Don’t let the supporters lie to you.  This is about the trolly folly and ONLY THE TROLLY FOLLY.  Its Cops or a silly Trolly.  Be smart.

Vote YES on Smitherman’s amendment and end this silly trolley nonsense this November.  I can’t wait to see it fail

    • i don’t get on your township’s message board and spew nonsense about how things should be run.
perhaps you should extend the same courtesy to us.

    • I love to hear people repeat lines quoted by Retirement home patient Tom Luken.

Boondoogle?  Really?  When was the last time that word was used, like 1907?

Be original.  And quit assuming a mentally lacking 86 year old fart knows what he is talking about.

    • given your screen name, palinbachman, I have to assume that you know little about what you’re talking about.  Marxism has nothing to do with this “boondoggle” you speak of (or of the 21st century for that matter).  wake up!  quit living in the 19th century.

    • Marxist? Really? This post is a joke, right? Surely this can’t be serious. But in the event this IS serious, if you want more cops and firefighters, tell that Republic governor to stop demonizing the good guys. Hey, and when you’re done doing that, grab a dictionary and look up “Marxist.” Then we can both have a good laugh.

    • Julie, any chance you’d consider a policy of simply deleting (or better yet, disallowing saving) posts with any mention of trolleys, streetcars, coast, tea party, etc etc etc?

    • The only problem I have with this, is that why would you say that crime is the problem? If this was just a big ploy to get attention, it seems like it would backfire because people would now be scared… Perhaps all publicity is good publicity though.

    • You’re obviously an idiot. Yeah, they had some animals come in and force them to stick guns to their head. Grow up. Try getting a job paying more than 40K a year why don’t you? And fix that piece of crap Volvo all banged up, uglying the OTR.

  • I’m a huge proponent of business owners who victimize themselves in a half-assed attempt  to justify their establishment’s shortcomings. No really, I am. I am also a very sarcastic person.

  • I refuse to give a single dime to grammers. obvious that grammers closed due to lack of customers. sad that the owner used the robbery as a ploy to get media attention.

    • Yeah, you’re an idiot….which is why they’re opening up again. Such an idiot….speculating that someone would use an armed robbery as a ploy for attention. I hope someone sticks a gun to your stupid head.

  • I refuse to give a single dime to grammers. obvious that grammers closed due to lack of customers. sad that the owner used the robbery as a ploy to get media attention.

  • using the media stating the robbery was why grammer’s was closing only brought negative hype to the neighborhood. get the facts straights it’s obvious grammer’s closed because people aren’t willing to support the establishment under the current leadership. had a great thing going before the entire staff was fired months ago.

    • Except that several of the former staff members were rude, condescending, wannabe intellectuals who were either drunk, high, or both when they were on the clock.  They condoned and sometimes participated in the vandalism of the establishment, dancing on the bar, throwing glasses at the wall, etc etc etc,  spit at customers and other lude acts. If that didn’t demonstrate unprofessionalism, the fact that they couldn’t mix a drink other than something as obvious as a Captain and diet (and even that sucked) must have said to some people that it was being operated as a dump.  I, and many others I know, quit going there BECAUSE of the old staff.  The new staff was refreshing…friendly, easy to talk to, and didn’t tolerate people acting like animals.  Oh, and a bonus of the “new” Grammer’s…it was clean!

      • i’ve not been to many bars where the workers were sober.  However, they were indeed super assholes.  I got robbed in OTR and ran away to the suburbs.  I am rational.  OTR is toast.

      • AGGRRRREEEEEDDDDD!!!! The old regime were disgusting. Their idea of “cleaning” was coming in one minute before they opened to put their heads in the sink to wash off the filth in their hair. It was disgusting. Now, Grammer’s is clean and you don’t stick to everything you touch. The goons that had the ping-pong tournament were morons. And even more so, the short goon (don’t know his name) running it. Acted like he managed the place. Must be a big line item on your resume…”I run the ping pong tourney at Grammers! I am SOMEBODY!”

  • The Wades are dog poo that the owner didnt clean up. They are destined to fail at everything they touch because they lack all character. They use money that neither one of them had any part of making. Evil, pure evil. They get back what they put out there.

    • Now that is good stuff, and totally true. Why don’t they take their money and go somewhere else and take their nephew, Dan with them. Wade was heard saying the neighborhood is completely unlivable. If that is how he feels then why does he have a business there. What exactly does he keep trying to prove anyway?

      • Nice work. Posting under false aliases and then replying to your own reply. The maturity level of this city is outstanding. But I’m a degenerate hipster, mad b/c my “art” won’t be recognized at my beloved Grammer’s. “I’m Gavin Richardson and I’m the GM at Grammer’s”…meanwhile, the real GM was ready to fire his butt b/c he was drunk half the time and the other half, was just doing “marketing.” I like to act like I’m like that loser Costen, having inside info, am world-traveled, and love for my words to be seen and be seen. We hang out and we either ride cute bicycles or mopeds.

  • I refuse to go there after that stunt!  I will never spend a dollar with the Relish Group and will never recommend it to anyone.

    • Dont claim to be an advocate of downtown and OTR especially and degrade a business taking a chance. Talk to the ones that were held up, look them in the eye, hear their story and then comment if it was a publicity stunt. Gun to your head, execution style, you would blink to.

      • Dude, Wade was not the one with the gun to his head. The reason it was unsafe is that Wade did not take the necessary measures to defend his customers or establishment. He went cheap on personnel and it cost the bar, the customers and him. He never learns. Maybe he was out cheating on his wife when that lesson was being taught in class.

      • i’ve had a gun to my head in OTR. It sucked, I hated it and I did not run away after it happened. To run is to give in and that is what the criminals want. They want a lawless wild west that they can run amuck in. Don’t be wildly dramatic, “execution style”. Criminals are assholes. Stand your ground to bullies and they eventually stop.

In this case, We have to stand our ground to the white collar criminals (Wade) and the street criminals (gun toters).

      • That’s exactly what that POS Casey Costen does….preaches about “gentrification” and how worldly he is….”isn’t his first rodeo”…like he’s got decades of experience under his belt. All the while refusing to go to any establishment south of the river or outside his little realm where his immature blogging and childish rants, posing to be an insider to the Wade’s when he’s mocked. He’s a hypocrite. A 4’10” greasy haired little hipster mad b/c his playhouse was taken away. Sounds like he has an axe to grind? They’re so cute at that age.

  • I refuse to go there after that stunt!  I will never spend a dollar with the Relish Group and will never recommend it to anyone.

  • In what way would an armed robbery work as a publicity stunt????  It only hurt them if anything.  I’m assuming that half of the statements made here are from people that live outside of Cincinnati limits and are out of touch/scared/ignorant.  If you think letting OTR and the rest of downtown go to hell helps your situation in anyway then you are wrong.  Cincinnati hasn’t had any bit of change in the past 40 years, I think its time to try something new.  The old method of rebuilding fountain square every several years isn’t cutting it  And for god sakes, please stop using the words Marxism/socialism so liberally and incorrectly.

  • its really awesome to have a modern day villain that everyone hates. I hope that the hero arrives soon and counters the threat.

Maybe he was eaten by the earthquake. Maybe the earthquake was Wade opening his mouth. Maybe, just maybe us pure mortals don’t know how great he really is and it was his godlike thundering presence telling us to honor him more. He is Zeus right?

  • Danny boy get over yourself.  You, and uncle Marty are done in Cincy.
What is it going to take for you to get the message.
    Launder Marilyn’s money someplace else.
    Like in Kansas……………..relish that!

    • Sure thing hipster baby boy. “truth4cincy”…go on your next “rodeo”…immature hick “gentrifying” a region that never crosses the river. What an ignorant hypocrite.

  • I have had to learn to cope with these wingnuts, PalinBachmann2012 and the Repubs have all gone bats@#$#t crazy, Marty included, Lewis Black said it best.
I heard her speak the first couple of times…after a couple of weeks, and I knew she was like for me, a motherlode. But I was SO SHOCKED that she was running, it stunned me SO MUCH, I said on stage I wouldn’t make jokes about her, because I could not LIVE in this world if I believed she was a real person. I have, for the entire time that she’s been around, treated her as a hallucination.”~ Lewis Black on Sarah Palinhttp://bobcesca.com/blog-archives/2011/08/a-hallucination.html

  • The Robbery at Grammers is not a publicity stunt, I have spoke with the people at Grammers that was involved in the robbery, they were terrified about what happened. What we need to do as cincinnatians is take our neighborhoods back and not let the street hoods win. Grammers is a beautiful historical place and should stay open another 100 years. Please come to Grammers and have a great time It will reopen in late september. SEE YOU THERE !
