(Guest post by that idiot sometimes known as “The Boyfriend”)
A couple of weeks ago, I did a mini-review of Fatburger in Oakley. In the review, I sang the praises of the West Coast-based chain which had just opened its first location in the Cincinnati area. I giddily bubbled that this might the perfect burger…hot, juicy, fresh off the grill.
I liked the burger so much that I went back just a couple of days later. The second visit was as delightful as the first. Fatburger, which boasts of being voted the best burger in L.A. and Las Vegas, had just supplanted Steak and Shake as my favorite semi-fast-food, sit-down burger chain.
Not so fast there, Skippy.
Julie and I ate dinner there tonight. I had looked forward to the visit most of the day, convinced that Julie would love the place. But tonight’s visit was far less than stellar. The service was slow. The food was awful…dreadful, in fact. I ordered my usual Kingburger, which was horribly dry and overcooked. Julie’s Baby Fat was also dry. I tried the onion rings for the first time; they were OK, but nothing more.
I’ll definitely give the place another chance, though I won’t be in any hurry to do so. In the meantime, Steak and Shake has reclaimed the top spot among chains.
